![]() ![]() Although Heptameron is known from many printed editions, the earlier manuscripts and sources have remained almost unknown. The earliest reference to this text seems to be that of the abbot Johannes Trithemius in 1508, ⁵ but it is clear that it was compiled from much older sources. Heptameron- based a mulet published in 1676. In spite of this, a critical edition has not been previously published. Countless amulets and pendants have been made with its designs, and elements have repeatedly been adapted and incorporated into other manuals of ritual magic. Since it first appeared over 500 years ago, the Elucidation of Necromancy (Lucidarium artis nigromanticę) ¹ and the closely-related Heptameron ² have become essential guides for individuals seeking help from non-physical beings.
